Cause:

Camera driver not installed; Camera not connected or broken.

Symptoms:

  • VSee doesn't detect the camera.
  • Camera light never turns on.
  • Camera not in the list of devices in Audio/Camera setup window.

Reason:

A missing driver, or disconnected/broken camera will make it impossible for VSee to show video.

Solution:

Check that camera is working and update/install proper drivers.

  • Make sure the Camera is connected properly to the computer.
  • Use alternative video software to confirm the camera is working. Skype, Facetime or any other software to check that the camera is indeed recording.
    • If this step fails, it is likely that the problem is due to your camera being faulty somehow. please try to find another camera to test with.
  • In VSee, check that your camera is selected correctly in the Audio / Camera setup window.

Cause:

Camera already in use

Symptoms:

VSee doesn't show any video. Camera 'light' on before application started

Reason:

When another application has control over the camera, VSee can't connect to it and thus not display your video. Often this happens because Skype, Facetime, Hangouts or other video applications have not released the camera control.

Solution:

Close application using the camera currently.

  • Make sure you exit VSee by right-clicking the system tray icon and selecting exit.
  • Check if the camera light is still on. If still on, the camera is already in use.
  • Make sure you close any video related applications running on your machine.
  • Once the camera light is off, the camera has been turned off and will be ready for the VSee client.
  • Launch VSee again to try the camera.

Cause:

VSee cannot connect to Camera due to driver issues

Symptoms:

  • No other application is using the camera, but VSee still not showing any video.
  • Camera light does turn on when VSee starts. Very common on Lenovo T440/T450 and certain modern Asus laptop models.

Reason:

In some situations, VSee cannot connect properly to the camera because it doesn't recognize the driver correctly.

Solution:

Use virtual camera software (camera splitter) to load camera image and forward it to VSee while VSee works on a solution.

  • Make sure you exit VSee by right-clicking the system tray icon and selecting exit.
  • Install Manycam (Free) or other virtual camera / camera splitter software.
  • Run Manycam. It should show your video. If not, select it as an input stream.
  • Launch VSee. Select the Manycam video source as input
